Tamil
audience have witnessed several horror comedy films in the recent past
and the recent one in the list is Santhanam's Dhillukku Dhuttu. Though
the comedian turned hero has given his best as a hero, this Dhillukku
Dhuttu has nothing different when we compare it to a typical horror
comedy film.
Continue reading to know whether the film is worth a watch or not.
Plot:
The
film opens with a story that happened in 1940, when a young woman kills
herself (watch the film to know the reason) and her soul is still
haunting that bangalow located in the top of a hill named Sivan Kondai
Malai. Then the film returns to the present.
Santhanam and
Shanaya, who were once classmates in school, falls in love after meeting
each other after so long time. But Shanaya's father who is not wishing
to accept a poor guy as his son-in-law plans to kill Santhanam, and
appoints Motta Rajendran to do that.
He tactically takes
Santhanam's family to that haunted bangalow (mentioned earlier).
Rajendran uses some reel ghosts and makes several attempts to horrorize
and kill Santhanam, but in vain.
Then comes the real ghost, let out from a box? What will happen next? Watch in big screens.
Performances:
Santhanam has carried the complete film on his shoulders, despite his one liners were bit pesky.
Heroine Shanaya is pretty in looks, but no so when it comes to acting and lip sync.
Motta Rajendran, Karunas, Anandraj etc have done justice to their roles.
What's hot and What is not:
Thaman's
songs were good, but some were a huge speed breakers. Cinematography by
Deepak Kumar Pathy is colourful, and the work of Karthik Raja in
background score is worth mentioning.
On the whole, Dhillukku Dhuttu is a decent entertainer, and is watchable for the one-liners of Santhanam.
