Tamil cinema has its own prototype, when it comes to horror comedy films.
Jackson
Durai - the one such film starring Sibiraj, Sathyaraj, Bindhu Madhavi
and many others, has nothing in different. It shows the same haunted
Bangalow, which we may have experienced in numerous other horror films.
Continue reading to know, whether Jackson Durai is worth a watch.
Plot:
Bullet
Satya (Sibiraj), a despised and less successful police officer has been
sent to a village named 'Ayanpuram' to investigate a case regarding a
ghost "Jackson Durai". The villagers complain that the ghosts haunt them
daily after 9 PM in the night.
When Sibiraj arrived in Ayanpuram
he falls in love with Bindhu Madhavi, the village President's daughter.
When he approaches her father to marry her, Karunakaran comes as a
contender to marry Bindhu Madhavi. Unable to choose between those two,
her father announces that, the one who stays in 'Jackson Bangalow' for
seven days can marry her.
As you may have guessed, Sibiraj and
Karunakaran enter into that Bangalow and get haunted by a group of
ghosts, and were later surprised to know that freedom struggle is still
going on daily after 9 PM.
Durai(Sathyaraj - ghost) a freedom
fighter is still revolting aginst Jackson for the freedom. The rest of
the film shows whether Sathyaraj and his group succeded in killing
Jackson, and how Sibiraj stayed there for seven days, and finally got an
investigation assignment completed.
Performances:
Though
the performance of Sibiraj isn't a exceptional one, he along with
Karunakarn & Motta Rajendran has succeeded in making us cracked up
laughing. Bindhu Madhavi doesn't have a big role, but has played it very
well.
American actor Zachary(British colonel), Yogibabu and all others did justice to their roles.
What's hot and What is not:
The
film's plot based on the happenings in the pre-independence era, might
have looked impressive on the paper, but director Dharani Dharan has
tumbledown to bring it on to the screen. The comedy is the only fact
which carried the film throughout, and few logical mistakes comes as a
drawback.
Most part (may be all) of the film has been shot indoors
and cinematographer Yuva has done a decent job. Songs by Sidharth Vipin
doesn't stay in mind, and the background scrores were good at few
points.
On the whole, Jackson Durai is watchable for its comedy, but dont go with expectations.
