Sundar.C's
Muthina Kathirikai aka Muthina Kathirikka is out in theaters. This film
is the official remake of superhit Malayalam film Vellimoonga.
Plot:
You
may have predicted the plot with the title itself. The film is all
about a 40 turned unmarried man, who is aspiring to suceed as a
politician.
Muthupandi (Sundar.C) who has tasted the respect
people give for politicians, wants to excel in politics. He is already
40 and his mother is so tired of searching for a girl, to get him
married.
In the meantime, Muthupandi falls in love with Maya
(Poonam Bajwa). She is just 24 and shockingly the daughter of his ex
Kiran. Maya's father Ravi Maria who has a personal altercation with
Muthupandi in their school days, objects to their love.
Later the
elections are announced and he is set to contest against his rivals
Bullet Marudhu (VTV Ganesh) and Vanjinathan (Singampuli). The rest of
the film is all about, how our Muthina Katharika Muthupandi uses his
political knowledge to retain power, and succeed in wooing his girl
Maya.
Performances:
Sundar.C is well suited for this role,
has showcased convincing acting, while Poonam Bajwa only got a minor
space and has added up glamour quotient, especially in the songs.
Sathish's
one liners worked well. All other actors VTV Ganesh, Singampuli,
Sriman, Ravi Maria etc have done justice to their roles.
What's hot and what is not?
The
director has succeeded in bringing into the screen, what's exactly on
the script, a perfect mixture of comedy, politics, and sentiments a bit.
But the plot is so predictable, except the twist in the climax.
Technically the film isn't astounding, with just satisfying cinematography and craggy editing.
On the whole, Muthina Kathirikai is watchable for its comedy. But dont go with much expectation.
