The film Amma Kanakku is a message oriented film, and the film
delivers the message that irrespective of one’s social status. Everyone
has a right to dream, inspire and change their lives. The film depicts
the routine life of a character named Chanda, who wants t0 d0 big things
for her only child. For that she works in multiple menial-mechanical
jobs, to put her through school. In an attempt to change her daughter’s
perspective of life. Chanda gets enrolled in Apeksha’s class with the
help of one of her employees and close friends. And the story revolves
around these characters and film impresses everyone greatly.
Performances are so life-like from lead cast especially the kids at school. Amala Paul
Vijay delivers an effortlessly effective performance. Revathy is
fabulous in her small yet effective role. Samuthirakani as the school
principal is a bit weird and looks uncomfortable as he seems to have
just imitated what Pankaj Tripathi did in the original.
Gavemic U
Ary’s cinematography has captured the moods of all the characters with
apt lighting and the production design by RK Vijay Murugan deserves
applause. Though Maestro Ilaiyaraaja disappoints us with his songs, he
has compensated with the soothing background score.
On the
downside few scenes are contrived and the dialogues sound like mere
translation from the original, which Subramaniam Siva (Thiruda Thirudi)
should have taken care about.
On the whole, Amma Kanakku is Onetime Watchable , a light-hearted film that is refreshingly fresh.
